Unfortunately, they do not mean the same thing. This is a classic false friend, and it can change the message of an otherwise perfectly good sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does eventually mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eventually<\/strong> means <em>in the end<\/em> or <em>after some time<\/em>. For example: \u201cAfter three attempts, she eventually passed her driving test.\u201d It suggests a process, delay or series of events before the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What should you say for eventueel?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dutch <em>eventueel<\/em> is usually <strong>possibly<\/strong>, <strong>perhaps<\/strong>, <strong>if necessary<\/strong> or <strong>as an option<\/strong>. \u201cWe kunnen eventueel dinsdag afspreken\u201d becomes \u201cWe could possibly meet on Tuesday\u201d or simply \u201cWe could meet on Tuesday.\u201d Saying \u201cWe can eventually meet on Tuesday\u201d suggests that Tuesday is the long-awaited conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nederlandse uitleg<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kort gezegd:<\/strong> eventually = uiteindelijk.
